I Did Not Know It Was Coming – TAG I’m It

Just got my Google Alerts and noticed that Eric Norlin over at Defrag blog tagged me; Eric was tagged by Jeff Nolan over at Venture Chronicles so I believe he should be blamed as well. Apparently I need to tell eight things about myself and then tag eight other bloggers which in turn need to do the same. So here goes:

1. I had three different business majors at James Madison before settling on Computer Information Systems. First was Finance, then Finance/Marketing double-major, then Marketing/CIS double major, then Computer Information Systems. Should I go back to get 12 more credits of marketing to get the second degree? (Didn’t think so…)

2. I met my wife in Market Research class at JMU when I joined her market research project for the Richmond Braves, the AAA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. We also have the same birthday!

3. We have three cats named Mercedes, Lexi and Bali and one dog, a collie-shepherd mix named Barkley.

4. I just realized I’ve been watching my HDTV in 720p and not 1080i for over a year! Pretty embarrassing for someone who considers himself pretty technologically astute. Who knew there was a secret set of keys to bring up Comcast’s secret menu on what signal your DVR receiver is going to process? And why one earth would the Comcast technician not set that up properly based on the TV you have? (NOTE: power, cable and menu buttons when TV is off will send you to a white bios-like screen to tell you which settings you have and where you can change it to the right setting)

5. My first computer was an ATT x86. My uncle who worked for Bell Labs at the time would not let me turn it on until I read the MS-DOS manual cover-to-cover AND passed a test that he created for me. If you were wondering, I scored a 92 out of 100.

6. I like Bill O’Reilly and Fox News. (Disclaimer: Fox News is a subsidiary of News Corp, the parent company of Dow Jones)

7. I hate ice cream and I don’t understand people who chew their ice cream.

8. I don’t get to walk on the beach every day but I love taking my daughter to the beach. We are an expert hole digging and castle making team. And my personal expertise is making giant sand sea turtles.

  • Glad to hear that I am not the only one Scott! It still befuddles my mind to think that it is the consumer that is expected to figure this out to get the ultimate value out of your monthly purchase. Imagine if you could get better connectivity and range, or even a faster data plan with your mobile phone but the mobile carrier doesn't tell you about how to get it and there were a secret set of keys that you had to do Google searches to find it and utilize it. I am sugar-coating by saying it is "far from reasonable".

    As for your "access ibm", I can't help you there. I converted fully to Apple and my MacBook Pro last year. And I can say, I am very glad, Apple has not added a "access apple" button on my laptop and an unaesthetic BLUE button!

    Great post, Lou. Thanks for helping a technophobe by providing the solution to your resolution problem! I had the exact same issue!

    Now if only you could help me figure out what the "access ibm" button on my laptop does, you'd be my hero.
